About Rob Rasmussen
Creative Director & Web Designer

Hi, my name is Robert J. Rasmussen, Creative Director here at PixelEight Web Studio. But do me a favor...call me Rob. And while you're at it, say hello to one of my best friends, Trevor.

You'll learn quickly that I'm a fairly down-to-earth guy; I don't try to be something I'm not and I'm really not a suit-and-tie kind of guy. Well, I can be when I need to be, but most of the time, you'll find me in jeans and a collared shirt, full of ideas and always ready to design and build a new website for a new client.

I've been a web designer in Connecticut for the past 10 years, dabbling in projects for many clients from many different backgrounds. In fact, that's one of my favorite things about what I do. I'm always working on something different for clients from different backgrounds.

Though I had been building websites since the first days of GeoCities, my interests in design started in high school when my teachers would ask me to design PowerPoints and other graphics for their classes. From there, it turned into wanting to learn more about how to create complex graphics and how I could apply that in the real world, considering I had so much fun doing it and had no interest in stopping.

As my career as a professional bowler fell a bit short for several reasons including a diagnosis of Crohn's Disease, I chose to apply to only one school, Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. I was accepted for early admission in 2002 and I have tried to remain a large part of University ever since.

I had fallen in love with Quinnipiac very early on in my life, always taking trips to Sleeping Giant State Park, which at some point in my hiking, always seemed to overlook the beautiful Mount Carmel campus. Combining the beauty of the campus with the Interactive Digital Design program they had, I was hooked.

And four years later, in 2006, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from one of the best private University's in the country with a Bachelor's Degree in Interactive Digital Design, but also with an internship at IBM under my belt. I also minored in Philosophy, with focus on Interactive Art Philosophy, which primarily studies how an audience will connect, relate and ultimately use a piece of art.

With my great education from Quinnipiac and my thirst for knowledge in the field of web design, I have continued to grow as a designer and as a developer. I stay connected to Quinnipiac mostly through athletics, as I am a season ticket holder for men's ice hockey and basketball, as well as for women's ice hockey. You'll find that I never miss a hockey game and try my best to make all the basketball games.

I stay active, but for me, my true passion is web design and development. I find that I am incredibly lucky to be so invested in a profession that I don't just like; but love...and love wholeheartedly.

PixelEight is my small way of sharing my love for web design and development. I see every project as a new journey and a unique way to build a personal connection with each client...or as I'd prefer to say, my extended family.
