...and Wesleyan

The Hartford Courant reports that Wesleyan has followed Davidson, Amherst, and Williams in replacing loans with grants in their financial aid packages for students.

I see in the Boston Globe that Colby has gone no-loans, but following a long-time policy of recruiting within the state of Maine, their step applies only to Maine students; Colby students from elsewhere will continue to have loans as part of their aid packages.

Colby relocated their entire campus from downtown Waterville to Mayflower Hill in the 1930s or 1940s, an immensely expensive transition for them, and consequently they've been playing endowment catch-up for quite a while in the small New England liberal-arts college market.
